The Commission on Soft Matter (C7) of IUPAP seeks nominations for its 2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Soft Matter that recognizes contributions in the field of “physical properties of soft matter”. Successful candidates will have received their PhD after January 1, 2018 (excluding career interruptions) and should be the principal performers of original work of outstanding scientific quality in soft matter physics. If the work was performed in collaboration, the leading personal contribution of the nominee must be clearly identified.
The prize consists of a certificate, a medal, and a monetary award. The awardees are featured on various IUPAP communication channels. They are also invited to submit a written contribution to the IUPAP newsletter and will be invited to make an Award Presentation and receive their Prize at the International Soft Matter Conference in San Diego, CA, August 8-13, 2027.
Self-nominations are not allowed. All nominations must include:
- Nomination form
- Curriculum vitae of the candidate up to two pages in length
- List of up to four of the candidate’s most significant publications, including citation information, not to exceed one page
- A nomination letter not to exceed two pages, describing the candidate’s most significant achievements and contributions, highlighting those that make the case for the award.
- Two letters of support, up to two pages each
The documents must be collected into a single pdf file called Surname_ECSP_C7.pdf, where Surname is the candidate’s last name, and emailed by the nominator to [email protected] by July 15, 2026.
