Standing Committee on Membership and Development

The Standing Committee (under VP at Large) on Membership and Development is chaired by the Vice-President at Large for Membership and Development. 

Mission/Mandate

To advance the interests of territorial, corporate and associate territorial members of the Union, and support and facilitate the incorporation of new members to advance the global development of physics. 

Modus operandi 

The Committee liaises closely with the Executive Council, the Secretariat, all commissions,  working groups and other Standing Committees, and shall engage with member adhering bodies, liaison committees, physical societies, governments, and corporations as necessary to further its mandate. The Committee meets a minimum of twice a year. The Secretariat provides secretarial support for the Committee. 

Composition 

Besides its Chair, the Committee includes the Secretary General for Financial Affairs and up to four individuals appointed by the Executive Council. The Vice-President for Membership and Development may co-opt additional members as necessary. The Committee will be renewed by the Executive Council on a three-year cycle.
