Early Career Scientist Prize
2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Plasma Physics
The Commission on Plasma Physics (C16) of IUPAP seeks nominations for its 2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Plasma Physics. Nominations should be emailed by May 15, 2026.
2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Soft Matter
2026 C7 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Soft Matter
The Commission on Soft Matter (C7) of IUPAP seeks nominations for its 2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Soft Matter that recognizes contributions in the field of “physical properties of soft matter”. Nominations should be emailed by July 15, 2026.
2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Computational Physics
The Commission on Computational Physics (C20) of IUPAP seeks nominations for its 2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Computational Physics.
Procedures for making a nomination are here. Nominations should be emailed to Alfonso Muñoz ([email protected]) by May 10, 2026.
2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics
Nominations are invited for the Early Career Scientist Prize (previously Young Scientist Prize) in Atomic, Molecular and Optical (AMO) Physics, which will be awarded in 2026 by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics through Commission C15 (AMO Physics). This prestigious prize recognizes outstanding early-career contributions to the field of AMO Physics.
The deadline for submission of nominations is 31st March 2026. Nominations should be sent to: [email protected]
2026 IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in the field of Symbols, Units, Nomenclature, Atomic Masses and Fundamental Constants
The Commission on Symbols, Units, Nomenclature, Atomic Masses and Fundamental Constants (C2) desires to distinguish and recognize the outstanding contributions and the merit of early career physicists within the areas of physics within the remit of this commission. Nominees should have a maximum of 8 years of research experience following their PhD (as measured on 31 December 2025) and should be the principal performer of original work of outstanding scientific quality in the domain of Symbols, Units, Nomenclature, Atomic Masses and Fundamental Constants.
The due date for nominations is March 31, 2026.
ICPE Medal – C14
In 1979 George Marx, a Hungarian researcher in the field of physics education, proposed to institute a medal to recognise “outstanding contributions to physics teaching of a kind that transcends national boundaries”. The Commission succeeded in establishing the award of an ICPE Medal with the following two criteria:
– The contributions to physics education should have extended over a considerable number of years;
– The contributions should be international in scope and influence.
Submissions must be sent to C14 Chair and Secretary by 30th of June 2026.
Sunamco Medal – C2
The awards of SUNAMCO Medals are based on nominations made to the Commission – from either within or outside IUPAP Commission C2. These awards intend to recognize senior persons or laboratories for outstanding contributions in physics within the ambit of the Commission C2.
Additional considerations
- A given award may only be received one time by any individual.
- Self-nomination will not be considered.
- The award presentation, if presented in person (which is desirable), such as at brief ceremony during a scientific conference, will be made on a future date to be determined.
- Considering the importance of ensuring the increasing diversity in physics and in the pool of candidates for awards in terms of gender and other underrepresented groups and geographical regions, as well as equal opportunities for all the scientific community, we would like to please ask nominators to provide, whenever possible, the following information:
- age, gender, and country of the nominee.
IUPAP Kennedy Reed Medal – C13
The Commission on Physics for Development – C13 invites nominations for the 2026 edition of the IUPAP Kennedy Reed Medal for Outstanding Contributions to the Enhancement of Physics in Developing Countries.
This Medal recognizes individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions through transformative initiatives that significantly enhance the state of physics in one or more developing countries. These contributions may include efforts in research, education, capacity building, or the promotion of more inclusive and equitable participation in physics.
Submissions should be sent by Sunday 12 July 2026.
