It is our great pleasure to launch a new prize, the IUPAP Medal for the Physics of Life. The IUPAP Medal for the Physics of Life is presented by the C6 Commission on Biological Physics of the International Union for Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) every three years, at the IUPAP International Conference on Biological Physics (ICBP). The Award, consisting of a gilded medal and a certificate, recognizes outstanding achievements in Biological Physics, regardless of the country where the research has been done, the age, or the employment status of the nominee.
The recipient should be a scientist who has not already received the IUPAP Medal for the Physics of Life, or the Nobel Prize. The award will normally be given to one awardee but can be exceptionally shared by two. The winner is chosen by a Selection Committee, consisting of the members of the C6 Commission, two recent Chairpersons of the C6 Commission, and three awardees of the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Biological Physics, who agreed to be on the Selection Committee.
